Watch our video guide to Week 16 of your pregnancy journey:
What's Happening in Week 16?
Your baby is now about the size of an avocado! The baby's eyes are moving into position on the front of the face, and the ears have reached their final position.
Your baby can now make sucking motions and may even be sucking their thumb. The circulatory system is fully functional, and the heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day.
Tips for Week 16
- Start thinking about a gender scan if you want to find out the sex — for accuracy, we perform these from 18 weeks onwards
- You may start feeling the baby move (quickening)
- Consider starting to plan the nursery
- Enjoy the increased energy of the second trimester
