Watch our video guide to Week 24 of your pregnancy journey:
What's Happening in Week 24?
Your baby is now about the size of an ear of corn! This week marks an important milestone - the "age of viability." While still very premature, babies born at 24 weeks have a chance of survival with intensive medical care.
The inner ear is fully developed, giving your baby a sense of balance. They know which way is up and down. The lungs are developing branches and producing surfactant, a substance that helps the lungs expand.
Tips for Week 24
- You may be screened for gestational diabetes around now
- Your belly button may "pop" outward
- Sleep on your left side for optimal blood flow
- Consider starting to prepare for maternity leave
