What's Happening in Week 40?
This is your due date week! Your baby is the size of a small pumpkin, weighing around 3.4kg and measuring about 51cm from head to toe. Only about 5% of babies arrive on their exact due date - it's perfectly normal to go a bit earlier or later.
Your baby's skull bones are not yet fused, allowing them to overlap slightly during birth. This is why some babies have a slightly cone-shaped head after vaginal delivery - it's temporary!
Tips for Week 40
- Try not to be too anxious if you go past your due date
- Stay in touch with your healthcare provider
- Keep monitoring baby's movements
- Rest and try to enjoy these final moments of pregnancy
Congratulations!
